You might ask yourself if you are struggling to cope with the demands of your work and personal life. Therapy can help you to do this.
Are you perhaps self-medicating with a substance of your choice and is this affecting your ability to function as you would if you were not using that substance? If so, you may have an addiction, or be burnt out or be struggling to cope with the demands of your work.
Do you have additional, personal stressors, such as lack of work security, or added financial pressures of having to provide for elderly or dependent family members? This may require emotional support to help you set boundaries or to delegate responsibility to others, so that you do not feel overburdened. Psychotherapy helps you reach insights that work towards optimal functioning.
In your personal and work relationships, do you feel that you are empowered and can assert yourself, or do you compromise your needs for the sake of others? Therapy can help you have more agency.
If you have suffered a traumatic event such as a high-jacking, robbery or rape, trauma debriefing will help you deal with the post-traumatic symptoms you may experience and to arrive at a point where you feel you can face the demands of your daily life again without feeling hypervigilent and anxious.
